Learning Target:  I can figure out what a phrase means (idioms) by looking at context clues.
Success Criteria: I can use the sentences before or after an idiom to help figure out the meaning.
Directions: Complete  the following idiom activity sheets and upload a photo of your completed work.

Learning Target: I can read a non-fiction article and answer comprehension questions.
Success criteria: I can comprehend the main idea and details of a non-fiction text by referring back to the text for evidence when answering questions.
Directions: Read: Lunch or Junk?, then complete the comprehension questions and write your answers on the Google Document that I provided for you. 

Learning Target: I can understand the meaning of a word by using context clues.
Success Criteria: I can read a non-fiction article and try to understand the higlighed vocabulary words by using context clues like: the sentence before it, or after it.
Directions: Complete the 3 activity pages on the article "Here Comes the Sun".

Learning Target: I can read and understand a non-fiction article and find the main idea and details.
Success Criteria: I can find and write main idea and details in a non-fiction article.
Directions: Read the article: "For the Birds" and answer the questions in the Google document provided.

Learning Target: We will be able to make inferences by reading short paragraphs to decide what place the paragraph is referring to.
Success critera: We can infer where each reading is referring to by using the clues.
Directions: Complete the worksheet; read each paragraph carefully and try to make an inference as to what place it is referring to.

Learning Target: We will read 2 articles and find the main idea and supporting details.
Success Criteria: We were able to find the main idea by looking at the first and last sentences in each paragraph and then supporting details.
Directions: Watch the Brain Pop video on Main Idea the complete the two activity sheets: "Wagon Train" and "What a Nose!"

View the Prefixes powerpoint. Then complete the prefix worksheet. Directions: underline the prefix and then write your definition in the box.

Look at the video called: Realistic Fiction, it will show you what the genre: realistic fiction means. Then listen to the story: Amazing Grace which is a an example of a realistic fiction book. We will discuss next week what parts of this story can be real and if there are any parts of it that can relate to your own life.
